Coach Vanvekoven came into the sport of running and triathlon through his love of competition. After a high school career in football, swimming and track. He went on competing at the college level by playing football. During this time his focus was on strength and power; the complete opposite of what his focus is on today. After college, his concentration then began to focus on coaching high school athletes. He strives to absorb as much knowlege in endurance sports as possible. Working beside some of the best coaches in the state of Indiana, he developed his own style of training for you.
Style
Coach Vanvekoven models Tudor Bompa's periodization and merges it with Joe Vigil, Jack Daniels and Arthur Lydiard principles. Through their expertise he has formed his own personal coaching program. He places emphasis on recovery while building on the oxygen delivery system and musculoskeletal system to aide in keeping athletes injury free.
Because he is a high school coach and teacher, he has the ability to TEACH you the skills needed to be a successful athlete. He has an innate ability at adpating to any athletes needs; from the athlete that is unable to run a mile, to the aspiring Ironman Kona Qualifier. He has worked with hundreds of different athletes one-on-one to fine tune his style.
